Thanks

Hi Crew,

Thanks to everyone for their support on the WTC article. I have received many positive responses to my piece. It’s great to hear debate on what we want from this sport. I have read a few critical responses which are personal in nature, which is somewhat disappointing when the future of our sport is in jeopardy. My piece, whilst I used some examples of my own results, had nothing to do with how fast I could (or couldn’t) swim, bike or run, and everything to do with the greater implications of the new rules. I think there might be a re-think by of a few of these outspoken types when their glibness is replaced by sobriety in relation to the real outcomes of these new rules. The female pro’s are severely affected by the new rules. Many athletes have off days, but still need to make ends meet, which becomes acutely felt when you can only race a few times a year. Think about how many average days Macca had in Kona before he became world champ, not to mention Mark Allen.

I note also, that an anonymous piece has been published on xtri (http://xtri.com/features_display.aspx?riIDReport=6307&CAT=25&xref=xx) which is scathing in it’s attack on the WTC. Let’s hope the outcry continues and more retractions are seen. In the meantime, train well.

see you on the road

Mitch
